The Lost Coast

The West Coast has been on my mind a lot lately. The ocean. The Redwoods. Empty, open road. Sudden changes in the weather depending upon where you are. Memories of time spent there settle deep within your bones. Maybe it's just me, but I can't stop thinking about the Pacific Coast.

My favorite drive is what's known as the Lost Coast. It's a 75 mile stretch that takes you through all different Californian terrains: Redwoods, the Pacific coast, rural areas (even crossing a single lane, wooden bridge), etc... You go from rural land to majestic sea to ancient trees. Depending upon where you start, it is Ferndale through the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The drive takes approximately three hours (without stopping.)

Once you've driven it, it stays with you.
