As always, I had a great time teaching at The Ink Pad in New York City. I also had a grand time picking up some new goodies. I took this photo today and realized that I had already put several of my new tapes in my class stash. The Ink Pad stocked up big time for my classes and had a great selection of my favorite toys. It is always a must stop shop even if I'm not teaching there.

Van Gogh Across the U.S.

National Gallery of Art Washington DC (7)
Boston MFA (2)
MOMA NYC (2)
Cleveland Art Museum OH (3)
Art Institute of Chicago IL (9)
I haven't disappeared nor have I forgotten about my blog. I'm in between, "I can't believe that I drove more than 7,000 miles (I did all of the driving), taught ten classes in five states, saw hundreds of pieces of amazing art, spent lots of time with artists, friends and family across the U.S. and now I'm home wondering how to process all of it.
Twenty five paintings by Vincent Van Gogh in six museums in three weeks. That's what I was able to see with the support of my family and friends. Thank you doesn't even begin to describe my gratitude and happiness about the experience.
Now I'm wondering how I can go about seeing more Van Gogh paintings in person. Maybe that will be my goal in 2018...

In the Mail: Art Pilgrimage 2017
Waving hi from Massachusetts. I'm actually in the car (my sister is driving before you yell at me) on the way to see Van Gogh at The Fogg Museum in Cambridge.
Mom and I are here until Wednesday morning and then we start our trek back. There are a couple of spots left in my Madison, WI and Evanston, IL classes. I have been trying to get to that area for years. I am really excited about it. I am planning on stopping at the Cleveland Museum as well as the Chicago Art Institute to see the Van Gogh paintings (I'm a woman on a mission.)
Next stop (for today, at least), pahkingh the cah in Hahvahd Yahd (I can say this, I'm originally from Quincy, MA.)

Bringing Home the Goods: Queens Ink in Savage, MD
I had a great time teaching at The Queen's Ink in Savage, Maryland! Patti and the Gang always make me feel at home. Patti always finds cool goodies for the shop. She ordered a bunch of things for my classes but not everything had arrived on time so, check back. We played with some of the above goodies during the classes (well, not the drink holder. That would have been weird. I'm always looking for a good cozy and the money for this goes to a good cause.)
My favorite thing from above are the Artgraf, water soluble graphite. I've used graphite over the years but have never used anything as intense as these. I have the tins, the sticks, the pencils and the bars. I love them and what they do on top of acrylics.
I'm in Massachusetts now at my sister's house hanging out with my little niece and nephew. On Thursday, I'll trek to The Ink Pad in NYC for classes there Thursday and Friday night. Saturday, I'll be back in Massachusetts to teach in Easton. On the 20th, Mom and I will start to trek West. On the way, I'll be teaching in Wisconsin and Illinois for the first time ever. I am always looking for new venues (and thankful to return to old favorites.)
If you ordered a handwritten postcard, I dropped the first batch in the mail from Maryland this weekend. I'm going to head to the MFA Boston this week and will be picking more up from there. I'm also going to work on my Art journal pages over the next couple of days to mail those out.
Off to play with the little ones today! I love road trips but it is very nice to be out of the car.

Hi from Savage, MD
I'm all settled in at The Queen's Ink in Savage, MD. Eagerly awaiting the morning.
Mom and I are tired of being in a car. We drove 2,700 miles in three days, stopping to sleep for a few hours, eat or get gas. It was so nice to just walk around the National Gallery of Art in D.C. today. I picked up the above postcards to mail some of these out to those of you who gave me your support to get here.
I'll be posting over on Instagram the next few days.
As soon as I can, I will share some of my favorite paintings from the National Gallery with you. I am so grateful that I was finally able to get there.
♡.

On the Road: Art Pilgrimage 2017
Picking up the rental car and headed out. First stop, LAX to pick up Mom. Next stop, Grand Junction, Colorado.
Here are the books that I'm bringing with me. I can't leave home without something to read.
See you in Colorado (at least for a quick stop!)

Paint Comparison: Holbein Luminous Opera vs Winsor & Newton Galeria Opera Rose
I had to trek to Blick yesterday in West L.A. to restock my supply bag of paints for my classes (yes, even after the post from Instagram, I still needed to stock up as I like to be prepared.) I am almost out of Holbein's Luminous Opera and was very disappointed to find out that the store was also out of stock of that one color (the whole reason why I trekked there in the first place as my local Blick doesn't carry Holbein.) In desperation, I picked up Winsor & Newton's Galeria Acrylic Opera Rose. You can see test swatches of each above (Holbein is the pink that pops off the page. The Winsor Newton is near the top right corner of the book and you can barely see it.) Guess what's going back to the store today? Hopefully, I'll be able to find another tube (or two) of my favorite Holbein Acrylic while on the road...

Online Classes Buy One, Get TWO Sale

Many people slow down with their art making during the summer. Let's rev things up a bit. Take three classes and stay engaged or take a class with friends to support one another.
