Visiting New Orleans

Mom and I walked the French Quarter area of New Orleans. We mostly wandered the streets taking photos and sticking our noses into a handful of galleries. There was so much to take in. Sights. Sounds. Smells. Lots of emotion as I was there. Lots to think about...

There was so much color (I went gaga over the different colored homes.) Here are just some of the many things that we experienced in our three hour side trip to New Orleans.

These ladies were rocking it. I left most of my singles and fives with various street musicians around town. I wish that more of them had CD's and business cards available but it is what it is...
I absolutely loved the people that I met there. So many artists (painters, musicians and more.) So much creativity, passion and inspiration in one area.
This. This is my dream house. The people who live here don't know but they are taking care of it for me... (though in all honesty, the humidity would probably kill me.)

It was definitely a memorable experience and a city that is calling my name to come back. I have one more post about a gallery that we visited to share.

Have you been to New Orleans? What are your favorite places and things to do/see/eat/experience there? I'd love to figure out how to teach somewhere there...

If you missed it, here's my post from yesterday about my Visit to Lucky Rose Gallery in New Orleans.

Awesome post and great photos... one of my favorite places too..
Enjoyed all your photos! Thanks! I've been to New Orleans - really enjoyed the music scene. There used to be a scrapbooking shop in a suburb, Metairie. I just tried locating them - it looks as if they are no longer in business. If I hear of any places I'll let you know.
