Goodbye Google Reader
Some insist that blogs are dead (I'm still hearing it and am tired of hearing it.) Folks who prefer facebook, instagram and other social networking sites to share and gather information. Not me. I love reading my blogs and blogging. I love the personal aspect that blogging brings and I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
Google Reader shuts its doors today and I had been freaking out since I found out about it. I LOVED Google Reader as a way to read and enjoy the four hundred plus blogs that I follow. I've been using Feedly for over a week now and so far, I really enjoy it. It's user friendly (I was able to do most of the work on my three year old phone!) If you used Google Reader you can even import your feeds into Feedly. Other reader options are here. (I don't get a kick back or anything from anyone. I'm just sharing what works for me.)
As always, thanks for reading my blog. You can also subscribe (and receive an email) by looking along the right side of my blog for follow by email. The RSS feed is at the bottom right side of the blog for those of you who have asked.
Heading out with the family for our last full day in Boston for a bit. Looking forward to a good day!

Harold Fry is on my to read list. I'm reading the autobiography of Luis Bunuel right now. I love Creative Thursday. Great blog and book.
Hope your summer vacation is going well. You deserve it!!!
Hugs,
Kelly
It was a very dark day for me when I found out Google Reader was going away. My reaction was not unlike a toddler when you take away their blankie.
Google Reader allowed me to keep up with almost 200 blogs. It was easy to read on every device. I am ADDICTED to reading blogs and it's funny to see how my tastes have evolved over the years. Started out heavy into decor blogs and in the last 3 years more heavily into artist's blogs.
As soon as the news came down from Google I immediately imported my stuff into Feedly. Almost every blogger I follow recommended Feedly, but I struggled. It didn't look right, didn't sort right and frankly it just didn't feel right. Finally a week ago I decided to try Bloglovin. So much better for me! I still haven't figured out how to import my starred items from google reader (although I have 'archived' them).
Honestly I wouldn't know what to do everyday if I didn't have my blogs to read. It used to be that tv shows were my best friends. Now I can definitely say bloggers are my besties! LOL.
Faithfully yours,
Kimberly
FYI I am using The Old Reader, after being with Feedly for about six months. TOR is way better than Feedly, rather like a clone of Google Reader, plus you can export your blogs from there to elsewhere. You can't currently export from Feedly. I.E., once you've moved there, if you decide to move on you'll have to rebuild your list of blogs from scratch.
I switch you Kelly to FB when this was announced as your posting there is usually the same and an easy jump to your blog and it is easier to comment on FB
