NEW: An Abundance of Sunflowers a PWYCW 14 October 2023 11 AM to 2 PM PDT

An Abundance of Sunflowers**

a pay what you can workshop

Saturday, 14 October 2023
11 AM to 2 PM PDT

(available live and later as a recording)

Sunflowers are one of my favorite things to paint and I'm always exploring new ways in which to SEE and paint them.

Get your hands moving, layering, asking questions, and working. Learn layering techniques to add to your mixed media repertoire all while creating work unique to YOU.

Gather:
  • several sheets of your favorite paper to paint on
  • a big, round brush
  • and your favorite acrylics
  • Get ready to harvest an abundance of beautifully layered and textured sunflowers, painted by you!

The work can be used to springboard further painting and sketching projects. It can be used as is or color copied for collage. The sky is the limit. You will generate several paintings in this workshop and I promise it will be difficult to put your brush down when it's over!

I'll talk about the history of sunflower paintings, other artists and how they approached the subject, and more.

Maybe you've been wanting to take a workshop but times are tough, and I truly get that. Maybe you've been wanting to take a workshop but for whatever reason, you just haven't been able to.

Whatever the reason is, there's space for YOU!

Gather your art supplies and join me in a very special PWYC workshop.

PWYC?

Those of you who know me, know that I have always tried to keep my workshops as accessible and as affordable as possible. In an effort to try to make my workshops even more accessible to as many people as possible, I thought that from time to time, I will offer a PWYC workshop.

I understand that times are tough right now and that maybe you can truly only afford to buy me a cup of tea (English Breakfast and black, please) but, maybe you are in the position to pay full price or to help pay for someone who can't. We have to help each other as much as we can right now. It's all greatly appreciated and it helps me to continue teaching, sharing ideas and making art. Your support and interest in my work helps to keep food on our table and a roof over my family's heads.

(Only because I've been asked, my regular price for a two hour workshop is $50.)

I hope that you're thinking, sounds great, I'm in!

What supplies will I need?
USE WHAT YOU HAVE

  • several sheets of your favorite paper (size depends on you. I usually use 8 1/2 x 11" or 9 x 12" (and I'll get two flowers from that.) You can also work larger or smaller if you'd like.
  • paint (acrylics), one large round brush (I used a #6) Optional: palette knives, favorite painting tools
  • paper towels/rags, plus water in your water bucket
  • I will send you a specific supply list of what I used upon registration. Again, I want you to use what YOU already have.
  • optional: You COULD collage some of your pages before painting on them. This is optional and I'd encourage you to do it before the workshop begins. I'll share ideas for using the work IN collage as well.

Sounds great, but I can't make the virtual, live session, will it be recorded?

Can't make the live workshop? The main part of my workshops are always recorded. However, please note: for those who are camera shy, during the main part of the workshop I am pinned and students are muted (but, encouraged to unmute and ask questions!) Additionally, before and after the session, there is time for students to ask questions, share, and engage with each other and me, WHILE NOT BEING RECORDED.

You'll receive a special link and a class handout within 2 days after the workshop ends. You'll also have access to me should you have any questions AFTER the workshop ends.

ENROLLMENT IS EXTREMELY LIMITED!

Your Art Supplies are Calling You...

How do I sign up?

As always, thank you for your support!
