Transformative Textures: Lessons in Multi-Layered Surfaces

Workshop held at Pnina's Studio in San Diego, CA

Sunday, April 19th, 2020

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DUE TO THE STAY AT HOME ORDER OF CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM, ALL IN PERSON WORKSHOPS ARE CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FUTURE WORKSHOPS, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT EGOREY99@SBCGLOBAL.NET
WITH CURRENT WORLD EVENTS, I AM NOT COLLECTING FUNDS FOR WORKSHOPS AT THE MOMENT BUT AM COLLECTING EMAILS/CONTACT INFO FOR FOLKS WHO ARE INTERESTED WHEN IT IS SAFE TO GATHER IN SMALL GROUPS. THANK YOU.

My workshops are always about inspiring creativity, generating ideas and learning how to see. The ideas can be translated into a variety of art forms. Use your art journal "as is" or for a springboard of inspiration for other art forms and living a creative life!

Please note there is a small supply list.

More details will be sent upon registration.

Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.

Interested in signing up? Questions? Please email Kelly for more info! EGorey99@sbcglobal.net

You may send someone else in your place if you are unable to attend the workshop, or you will receive a kit for the class. You can either pay via paypal (see button below) or send a check or money order. Once you've signed up for the workshop, you will be sent the address and directions to the workshop location. If you have ANY questions you can email me. I will also give you my cell phone number so you contact me.

The class fee includes a vast array of mediums and materials to complete the necessary project. It is well known that I do not travel light to any of my classes. I will be bringing such things are:

I do not travel light to my classes at all.

Transformative Textures: Lessons in Multi-Layered Surfaces

"A work of art is a world in itself reflecting senses and emotions of the artist's world. Just as a flower, by virtue of its existence as a complete organism is both ornamental and self-sufficient as to color, form, and texture, so art, because of its singular existence is more than mere ornament." -Hans Hofmann

What is it about texture that captures our attention and draws us in?

Experience sensual joy as you explore a wide variety of mark making tools and materials (acrylic paints, paint markers, pencils and more.) Gain new experience under guided exercises and free play as you create a multi-layered visual feast of texture, color, shape and more.

Create original pages and leave with your own handmade sample swatch book, an inspirational reference book of textural remnants.

Build confidence as you add to your artist's toolbox of explorations. Find joy in the process of harvesting ideas through hands on experiments, guided and demonstrated techniques and unexpected discoveries in the process.

Delight in the discovery! Prepare to get messy and build up the layers!

Supply list: *your journal with 4 to 6 pages already collaged with one main image and 3 snippets of background elements. You will be sent various examples upon signing up, a very small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), an apron, baby wipes, scissors, metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, a container for your paint water, your favorite paint brushes,  a few of your favorite glue sticks (please trust me when I say that large glue sticks will last you longer. I always have two or three 40 gram glue sticks in my journal bag and that's more than enough for a long weekend. You WILL go through the smaller glue sticks in MINUTES), roll of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

I hope to see you there!
