Anthology Madison, WI May 19th and May 20th

Workshops will be held at:
Anthology
230 State Street
Madison, Wisconsin 53703

Yes, it's a Sunday and Monday but we all need an extended weekend every now and then. What better way then to feed your creativity?

Sunday, May 19th

Conversations: A Visual Travelogue 12-6 p.m.

Monday, May 20th

Inner Dialogue: The Art of Visual Expression 11 to 5 p.m.

These fresh, new workshops teach a variety of NEW ideas involving collage, creative processing, self expression, composition, design, layering, painting and much, much more.

My workshops are always about inspiring creativity, generating ideas and learning how to see. The ideas can be translated into a variety of art forms. Use your art journal "as is" or for a springboard of inspiration for other art forms and living a creative life!

Please note there is a small supply list. (For long time regulars, please make sure to read the updated supply list below each class description.)

Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.

Conversations: A Visual Travelogue

We'll begin this workshop by creating a simple no-stitch journal.
After assembling your book, we'll dive head first into layers of paint, paper and pen. This little book will capture your heart and creative spirit.

You'll have the pages full in no time and leave eager to keep working in it.
What I love most about this book is how travel friendly it is. You can also make it in any size! You'll be bringing it to the coffee shop, on road trips and beyond. It's a new friend that you won't want to leave your side.

Supply list: an apron, scissors, a small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), cork back metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, a small container for your paint water,  your favorite paint brushes,  a few of your favorite glue sticks (please trust me when I say that large glue sticks will last you longer. I always have two or three 40 gram glue sticks in my journal bag and that's more than enough for a long weekend. You WILL go through the smaller glue sticks in MINUTES), a few pieces of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

Inner Dialogue: The Art of Visual Expression

Want to create magic on your journal pages?

For most artists, paper, paint, mark making and journaling represent doorways to new experiences and insights. Most artists that I know are always trying to discover and learn something new. We’re eager for new ideas, new techniques, anything that will get us in the studio and working.

I want to start a fire in you! I want journaling to be rich, magical, expressive and unlike any other form of creating that you can do. How do we do that? By working, brainstorming and taking risks.

In this day long workshop, we’ll create a one of a kind hardcover journal (with a hidden paper pocket) that will call to you whenever you are ready to reach for the scissors or paintbrush.

Discover new ideas and possibilities in art making that are already nestled deep within you. Expand, explore and experiment and bring your inner artist out and onto your pages.

Supply list: an apron, scissors, a small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), baby wipes, cork back metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, a container for your paint water, your favorite paint brushes, a water brush pen (OR an extra fine, detail paint brush *ONLY* IF you have one),  a few of your favorite LARGE glue sticks (please trust me when I say that large glue sticks will last you longer. I always have two or three 40 gram glue sticks in my journal bag and that's more than enough for a long weekend. You WILL go through the smaller glue sticks in MINUTES), roll of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

Anthology looks like an awesome store, Kelly! I hope to make it to Madison some day. I almost moved there in2001, but things fell through, lol.
