Kelly and Friends Go Creating: An Immersive Art Adventure at La Cascade in Durfort, France, June 11-18th, 2019
I want to invite you on the journey of a lifetime: art,
adventure, food, fun, new friends and more await YOU in the South of France!
I am buzzing with anticipation! Dreaming, scheming, and
planning a week that's full of marvel and creative adventure. I'm bursting with
ideas and I'm eager to share them with you!
Travel sparks ideas and stimulates creativity. Our trip
involves art making in the studio as well as on the go. After all, WE'RE IN
FRANCE!
You could stay home and work in
your studio but you'll miss a magical week unlike any other. Art making with
fellow creatives in a new land opens the door to all sorts of exciting
possibilities. Ideas have been pouring out of me since I was first asked to
teach in Durfort.
Did I mention the waterfall behind the house?
In
this truly one of a kind workshop, we will let the local colors, flora,
fauna and other daily discoveries of a medieval artisan village,
Durfort in Southern France, be our guide.
Did I mention Montolieu or the Village of The Books? A bibliophile and paper lover's dream!

Did
I mention the art stores, bookshops, art museums? Those famous French
flea markets? The Cathedral? All within driving distance.
We'll begin our day in our art journals. We'll start the
week by making a new journal completely from scratch. What happens in France doesn't stay in France! It
settles deep inside of us. We'll gather our group experiences and use them to
spark and ignite our art and creativity. Pour out your thoughts, dreams,
actions and adventures in the form of paper, paint and pens onto your pages.
This journal is truly one of a kind as it will capture your journey and time
spent in a land unlike any other.
After making sure that our bellies are full (with
healthy, fresh, locally sourced meals), we'll set off in daily excursions. A
castle, a book village, a waterfall, the Toulouse Lautrec museum, the famous
French flea markets all await us. The week includes 7 breakfasts, 6 lunches and
7 dinners, wine, plenty of daily excursions, art, inspiration, daily guided
hands on workshop time, and much, much more.
Our time together in France will be translated into a
finished journal that, along with the memories of our time in France, will inspire our art for the rest of our lives.
Did I mention the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec? A mere 70 minute drive away.
This will be an immersive experience like no other.
We’ll leave
Durfort invigorated, inspired, full of fresh, new ideas to keep creating and
forever carrying a piece of this experience in our hearts.

The Week Includes:
- Seven nights lodging at La Cascade-double occupancy (two twin beds with shared bathrooms.)
- Daily afternoon field trips
- All breakfasts (7), and most lunches (6) and dinners (7) prepared by Chef Nese with fresh, local ingredients: "Hello all dears, I hope you arrive hungry,because I love to cook and create new recipes, so I need you who love goodfood. Ha ha! don‘t worry, you will not gain more weight with all these freshfoods and fruits from the farmers market, eggs and honey from my neighbors,fresh meat from local farmers, the famous goat cheese from happy goats, organicolive oil, and french baguette made with local organic wheat... and you willhave as well home made bread, cheese, jam, granola, yogurt, peanut butter andnutella “ (oh oh), and depending on my time, there will always be delicioussurprises, but for sure my famous CARAMEL. Vegetarians are welcome ! Thankyou for your visit and bonne appétit. Happy cook = happy eater"

- Workshop instruction and many supplies (it is well known that I do not travel light. This fee includes all materials necessary to complete the project though there is a very small supply list to make the project more personal.)

- airfare
- trip insurance (required more info can be found here)
- shared rental car (approximately $150 for the week) to go on our daily art adventures!
- the occasional meal as well as museum and shopping excursions (France = flea markets. Don't forget about the Village du Livre!)
- small supply list (I feel that using some of our own collage material helps to make the experience more personal)
