Making Magic at 44
I turned 44 yesterday. It was magical. It started with this. (Thank you, Suzi Finer and Hansen's on Fairfax for the best cake EVER!)
After picking up my cake, we hightailed it over to the Cinerama Dome for the premiere of the new Suspiria. We were there to see two of our favorite actresses, Jessica Harper and Tilda Swinton. Neither one disappointed us.
The lovely Jessica Harper signs our Suspiria poster and lobby card. I was so excited to see her as we are huge fans of the original film. (If you haven't seen it, make sure you do, especially if you're seeing the remake when it opens. If you can catch it on the biggest screen possible, jump on it.)
Then, there's Tilda. This is the second time I've watched her interact with her fans. If every human was as gracious, down to Earth and kind as she was, the world would be a much better place. She is pure class and charm.
(look at her buttons! She was wearing hot pink pants as well.)
The following is after I thanked her for being an extraordinary human being. She walked the carpet, did the press thing and then they rushed her inside. The fans and graphers were screaming for her. She mimed signing and said she'd be back. THEN, in the utmost act of class, she sent her PR person out to tell us she'd be back as soon as possible. The woman is a Goddess and absolutely brilliant. That calmed people down knowing that she was going to return (very smart move on her part also very classy.) She walked the entire line, spoke with everyone and was just the nicest human being you could possibly meet.
We ended the evening with this, a shared meal at Veggie Grill, Dark Shadows and two big smiles on our faces:
(I took the above photo of the cake this morning. I really need to go food shopping.)
Thanks for following along with me on my birthday adventures.
