One of my favorite tools to paint and apply adhesive (mostly gel mediums, tacky glue and the like) is a Catalyst 01 Mini-Blade. My friend, Karen, introduced the tool to me a couple of years ago and I'm so grateful that she did! I haven't had to clean glue from a paint brush since that day.

I love the playful look that comes from using the mini blades to paint with. I've bought a handful of the other shapes but the mini 01 flat blade is my favorite and the one that I reach for the most. I like it better than a credit card and other tools that I've used over the years. It's a different look than a palette knife. I'll load up the edge with paint and just scrape to my heart's content. I'll etch and scratch into wet paint.

I just found out about these "silicone brushes" in the context of a ceramics class I just started taking. They apparently come in all kinds of sizes and shapes. Haven't tried for artwork yet but tapered point ones are great for smoothing clay.
