What I'm Reading
First off, big thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond to my survey. I'll post my thoughts about it in a day or two. You can continue to email me or leave comments as you like.
I had a great day of teaching today, great students who really got into their pages. Thanks again, ladies.
It's hot in LaLa Land so I'm off to veg with one of these books. I just finished Amanda Palmer's The Art of Asking (which I really enjoyed.) She mentioned Brene Brown (who also wrote Amanda's foreward) so I may end up reading Daring Greatly next. At the same time, there's the W.G. Sebald book that looks yummy about the artists and writers who shaped his life. I started collecting Sebald books after Maira Kalman spoke very highly and repeatedly about him. I haven't really read them yet (skimmed them) and I know they will be a treat.
Then, there's Barnabas...David and I have been watching Dark Shadows and I'm OBSESSED with it. I found the entire series of books locally last week and I can't wait to start reading them. At the same time, I may save them for when we're done watching the series (40 or so left from the 140 we recorded during a local station's series binge.) I'm adding the comics to my wishlist. I haven't been excited about vampires for a long time. The book series will be something that I can really sink my teeth into (hardeharharhar.)
Update: (Monday afternoon) I've tried several times to read Brene Brown's Daring Greatly and it's just not for me. I reread the first thirty pages last night. I skimmed several chapters and I just can't read it. Amanda Palmer's The Art of Asking, on the other hand, I LOVED and devoured it. It was personal, honest and real. I'd recommend it to anyone especially my fellow artists. |

I LOVE Dark Shadows. I wasn't born when the series was on but my husband often tells stories of rushing home from school to see it and he wasn't happy about band practice days when he'd miss it. LOL I am loving the series. I'll be disappointed when it's over as the tv station showed about 140 of them and we've got about 35 left. At least I know there are more out there. :)
Have a wonderful week!
