Compendium of Visual Delight
The Classes in Detail:
Friday, November 9th
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wanderlust-Looks can be deceiving. Create this surprisingly complex looking by
quite easy journal with pages that flip and fold up and out. You’ve probably
never seen anything like this before! The journal is also small enough to slip
into your bag for on the go art journaling (I’ve worked in it on a plane, in a
car, etc…) After we construct the journal, we will dive deep onto the pages
spilling layers of color, texture, pattern, journaling and more. Walk out with
your head spinning full of ideas and inspiration!
Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage
ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of
paper towels, permanent black inkpad, container to hold water, 1" brushes
to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite glue sticks
followed by
3 to 7 p.m.
Lettering a la Kelly Style
This is NOT a calligraphy class! It is unlike
any other journaling or pen class that I’ve ever taught! You will learn simple,
fun and exciting ways to write and journal on your pages. You will explore a
myriad of pens as you work and learn how to add your own hand to your journal
pages. You’ll also be exploring collage in this class so it’s actually two
classes in one! This is a class with both structure (guided exercises) as well
as some play time. You’ll never be bored and you’ll be looking at your journal
pages in whole new ways after this class.
Supply list: journal (or the instructor will have paper
for you to work on), scissors, small selection of favorite collage
ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of
paper towels, permanent black inkpad, container to hold water, 1" brush to
glue (I like chip or bristle brushes) or a few of your favorite glue sticks
Saturday, November 10th 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
and
Sunday, November 11th 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Compendium of Visual Delights
Special Two Day Workshop!
In this special 2 day workshop, you will create your own uniquely made hand bound journal. Once the journal has been made, we will dive into the pages working together to explore a variety of mixed media techniques. You will work hands on with collage (learning composition and design skills as you combine a variety of collage ephemera (including papers, transparencies, tape, focal images and more). You will then learn to combine collage and mixed media as you create luscious pages using acrylics, gouache, watercolors, watercolor crayons, rubber stamps, stencils, a variety of pens and much, much more. You will walk out of class with a fully bound journal, several pages completed and your head full of new ideas and the desire to keep working in your journal!
Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, full roll of waxed paper, full roll of paper towels or a few old rags (to wipe paint, etc...
