Uncharted Territories-
Come and learn a fun and easy new stitch while creating a hand bound, hardcover journal made by your own hands in your own unique style! We’ll start the class by making the journal and then diving in to work on the pages. Learn how to transform found, magazine and old book pages using color, texture, pattern and more turning the pages into unique, new, visually delightful pages that sing of you!
Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels, permanent black inkpad, container to hold water, 1" brushes to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite glue sticks

Inspirations-
Ideas and inspiration are everywhere. Learn how to capture those ideas and make them your own. Utilizing the secrets of a variety of graphic artists and designers, we’ll take their techniques and use them as a jumping off point for our own visual mixed media collages. As always, a detailed handout is included with the class that is chock full of new and inspiring visual and written prompts!

New Directions-
Create your own uniquely hand bound, paper and tape covered journal completely from scratch! Once we’ve created the book, we will start to work on the inside creating richly layered pages. Combine layers of paper, tape, pens and much more to create your own visually expressive pages that tell your own unique story!

Building Up the Layers-
Learn a whole new way to approach a blank page! In this workshop, you will combine paper ephemera, tape, rubber stamps, watercolor crayons and a whole lot more to create lusciously layered backgrounds that can be used in ANY art form. As you work, you will gain new insight into the principles of collage such as composition, design, color, pattern and much, much more. You will walk out having created several layered backgrounds as well as the confidence to create even more on your own!

Listen to Your Heart-
You will start by deconstructing an old hardcover book and creating an embellished, textured, luscious and visually stimulating artist’s book. Using a combination of vintage and new, you will create fresh, one of a kind, completely you artist’s journal pages while learning new techniques and ideas. Working large and somewhat fast (though not too fast that you won’t be able to keep up!), we’ll cover a lot of ground in this four hour workshop.
