October 23rd journal page or how I met Stan Freberg at the grocery store

Lynne Hoppe, whose work I love and adore, has original art for sale!!!! Check it out here. Hurry before I go back and snag some more art. I didn't want to be too greedy last night when she listed it (love my google reader).

Check out Erin Partridge's yummy journal pages here. Etsy shop here.

More journal love here.

Christine Clemmensen is having a contest around her newly released and quite yummy book called Scraps (which I blogged about before here). Go here to find out more.

David, Tristan and I hit the Container Store Sunday night in an effort to buy a shelving unit to clean up my space. Loaded up the car and started to leave the mall. I realized we needed milk so I pulled into a parking space and left David and Tristan in the car. Ran into the store and grabbed what I needed. As I was leaving, I saw a man standing by some flower displays. As I walked by I looked him in the face. OMG. Stan Freberg. I got a big smile on my face and walked out. Got out the door and turned around and went back in. He had his back towards me. I put my hand on his shoulder. He turned around. Me, being the big geek that I am said (honestly and sincerely-I very much meant it) "Thank you." He looked at me as if to say, "For what?" and I said, "Thank you for all of your work on radio and in entertainment. Thank you." He smiled really big, shook my hand and said, "Thank you very much." My night was totally made and I put a smile on someone else's face.

As far as the shelving unit? More on that soon. It's a work in progress.

I can't believe Stan Freberg is still alive!!! He must be about 90. I grew up on his comedy records -- "St. George & the Dragonet." I learned the fine art of satire from Stan via that record.
