More Reclaimed: An Artist's Book...
I may have to re-shoot these pictures, but for now, here they are:Tomorrow and Thursday, I will be taking Lynda Barry's fab-o writing class in West L.A. I am a wee bit nervous. The class is all paid for (thanks to my parents and sister as my birthday/Christmas present! woo hoo!)...yet I am feeling guilty for taking it now when life is so roller coastery-ish right now. Nervous and excited at the same time :)
Speaking of Miss Lynda B, here are some online interviews in which you can bask in her groovyness. Here and here.
If you are in L.A., Lynda Barry & Matt Groening will be in conversation at The Hammer TONIGHT (Tuesday).

Anyone else get really pissed at Oprah's "What I Know for Sure?" column in the Holiday issue of O? The article blames the American public for the world's economic problems...saying that it was caused by our "Greed". This month's issue recommends things that are outrageously priced $89 for NINE cupcakes (for $89, I could make enough cupcakes to feed Rhode Island), clothes that go for hundreds and hundreds of dollars, insanely priced make up, etc... Excuse me, who's greedy? It says NOTHING about the damn CEO's, the banks, the mortgage companies, the ones with the real BUCKS whose greed caused the problems in the first place. It really pissed me off. I am thinking of canceling my subscription.

Now on to Oprah. I don't subscribe or buy her magazine. I even quit watching her show after a couple of her shows really ticked me off, can't remember which ones they were. I agree she does pick these outlandish things that are so expensive but then she gets on TV and says that we all need to come togehter as a "country" and do something about the economic crisis. Yes we do, quit being so greedy for one thing.
What saddens me the most is that the American public actually listens to Oprah and does what she says like she's the boss or something. Please.....get a brain people and think for yourself. I really used to like her, now I think her fame has gone to her head.
I hope you have fun at your class. :D
That was the last time I watched her show-about 2 years ago.

Great pages, here.
I'm not much of an O fan, but I am going to go read the article. Thanks for the head's up.
YES, two glorious days of Lynda Barry cracking the whip and making me WRITE. No art. JUST WORDS.
;)
Anyhoo...Oprah is one of the richest people in the world. How dare she blame us poor suckers who are just trying to make ends meet and maybe have a little left over for some art supplies and a class every once in a while. Shame on her!
Well...that felt good! Thanks for giving me an excuse to vent about her.
By the way, Miss Kelly, NEVER feel guilty about taking a class! We all need to learn from those around us. It helps to broaden our artistic (and sometimes, our personal) horizons. Enjoy!
Now Lynda Barry is real people. wonderful lady. I loved her book, her presentation here in St. Louis and everything about her. You are going to have a blast in her class. Ha...tell her about the cupcakes. she'll sing you a song !!!!
Hugs.
