Some things on my mind...

Picasso's "Guernica" spoke volumes without ever uttering a sound.

"You don't write because you want to say something; you write because you've got something to say." F. Scott Fitzgerald

"Can anything be stupider than that a man has the right to kill me because he lives on the other side of a river and his ruler has a quarrel with mine, though I have not quarreled with him?"
Blaise Pascal

I don't do pretty.

I do real.

My art speaks for me.

My art speaks my truth.

My art is my truth.

and pascal!! oh my, what words of Truth and Wisdom.

always loving your art and your speaking the Truth, kelly... loving that you're fearless in speaking it, with or without words.

I don't know Kelly, a lot of what you create is pretty, at least on the surface.
Your art may speak Your Truth and Be your Truth, however, you must realize that Truth is relative to perception and perspective.

Not everyone will agree with you because your truth is not their truth.

Be Happy that you live in this country so that you may "speak" your truth. On this Holiday weekend you might want to remember that you have this right because of a war. That is what the fireworks represent. Please do not denigrate the men and woman who help keep that freedom today!

Don't get me wrong,
I don't like War. War is hell. War is ugly and dirty and bloody. People die.

My husband leaves for the Middle East in less than 3 weeks.
I'm not happy about that, but I accept that he is doing what he believes is best and is doing his duty to his country.

When we create we must expect a response. To get a response, positive or negative, is what we want. Your art has achieved it's purpose. It has evoked strong feelings both positive and negative. Isn't that what you want?

Hi Kelly! I have been reading your blog for a while now but not commenting. But this post brought me out. I wondered why you were writing along these lines, but then I scrolled down and found the scathing comment in a previous post and I understood.

I just wanted to say you do not have to justify why you make your art your way. You are the artist and it is an expression of who you are and what you believe. You aren't making pretty watercolours to coordinate with someone's pretty livingroom.

You have inspired me in my journalling, especially when what is happening in my life isn't pretty.

Thanks for keeping it real.
You go girl!!!!!!

Not everyone agrees with what is going on in the world and my blog is my little place where I can have my voice heard.
