The Storyteller workshop-
It's still a work in progress, but you guys (I hope) get the idea. It's a journal constructed from one piece of paper. In the class we will focus not only on the (easy, peezy, one two threesy) construction of the journal, but also delve into mixed media layering techniques AND collage AND more...(I have lots of secrets up my sleeves with this one).
I will be debuting the workshop on Sunday, June 8th at Stampin From The Heart in L.A. (310 391 0466)

"The freedom to read is essential to our democracy. It is continuously under attack. Private groups and public authorities in various parts of the country are working to remove or limit access to reading materials, to censor content in schools, to label "controversial" views, to distribute lists of "objectionable" books or authors, and to purge libraries. " (quote from here)
I do not endorse censorship and I foresee a post coming here soon ("I am Criswell. I see all.") about censorship...something that has recently occurred and really burned my bridges.
That being said, this list has got to be one of the ridiculous lists I have ever seen. Did the author actually READ any of the books on it? To label a book as "bad" or "evil" just does not sit well with me *at all*.
Quotes on books and some on censorship-
"I believe I belong to the last literary generation, the last generation, that is, for whom books are a religion." Erica Jong
"I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us." Franz Kafka
"Every burned book enlightens the world." Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Censorship of anything, at any time, in any place, on whatever pretense, has always been and always be the last resort of the boob and the bigot." Eugene Gladstone O'Neill
"All these people talk so eloquently about getting back to good old-fashioned values. Well, as an old poop I can remember back to when we had those old-fashioned values, and I say let's get back to the good old-fashioned First Amendment of the good old-fashioned Constitution of the United States -- and to hell with the censors! Give me knowledge or give me death!" Kurt Vonnegut
"An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all." Oscar Wilde
and one of my most favorites:
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
-- Benjamin Franklin
