Volume Control: Acrylics

It's always interesting to see how much paint people use. Over the years (especially after I began to use the higher quality (higher priced) acrylics), I try to be aware of how much paint I'm squeezing out onto my palette. I also like to add a matte (or gloss) gel medium to them to extend the amount of paint that I'm using (that said, do not add what's actually labeled extender as it will extend the drying time. Also, I do not add medium to inexpensive acrylics. Only paints like Holbein, Sennelier, Utrecht, Golden, etc...)

I prefer to apply the paint thin, building up the layers as opposed to working with thick, wet paint.

The more work you do, the more you learn how YOU like to work and what works best for you.

How do you work?

I love this idea. I learned this in one of your online classes years ago. Would love to know the name of the pinks you’re using in your journals now. They’re vibrant and beautiful. Thanks for the pictures. I always love them.
