Guillermo del Toro at The American Cinematheque

David and I trekked to The American Cinematheque to see Christopher Nolan in person along with a 35mm screening of Interstellar. The night before they announced who would interview Nolan, Guillermo del Toro! I had been looking forward to seeing Interstellar on the big screen but another chance to see del Toro? YES!

So, before the film started, this happened. We were sitting in the middle of the second row. I heard murmurs that del Toro was in the theatre and signing for folks. I could see the small crowd and with the encouragement of David, I grabbed my book and made my way up to where he was sitting. I (accidentally) stepped on a few toes to get there (sorry!)

Guillermo has a huge heart. This man really appreciate his fans. He signed anything that folks gave him. He would sit down and then have to stand up again if someone wanted a photograph. This is my second time meeting him and we've never missed a chance to see him talk at Comic-Con, WonderCon or anywhere else we can catch seeing him. The man definitely knows what he's talking about.

I asked Guillermo if he could do a quick sketch in my book and this is what I got. Love it. Big thanks to the stranger sitting in front of him who offered to take our photo. I told Guillermo that I was at Comic Con when they announced his Cabinet of Curiosities and it's pretty much all that I lusted over for at least three years until it came out.

Nolan signed on his way out but left pretty quickly. Guillermo del Toro, on the other hand, stuck around and graciously signed for folks outside of the theatre. I love this man!

I love living in Hollyweird and am always very grateful to have an opportunity to meet the creators of my favorite works.

One thing that happened before the film that was funny, they had a raffle for an Interstellar bag. They drew the first name and it was me! Woo hoo! Then, they drew two additional names and everyone who was winning was sitting together. It was amusing.

A wonderful experience. I'm slightly envious now. ;-)
