My Belated July Jetpens Review

Last month, Jetpens sent me a $25 gift certificate to choose some new products to play with. I ordered the following:

Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.5 mm - Cutie Colors - Grape Purple
Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.5 mm - Yawaragi Colors - Usuzumi (Light Sumi Gray)
-I love the colors and the fine tip points of these pens. They write smooth. They don't write on any kind of slick or shiny surfaces (like tape or transparencies) but they're awesome for writing tiny on paper. They come in a rainbow of colors, too! The tip size again is ULTRA FINE so if you don't like writing with super fine pens, you won't love these but for those of you who like tiny writing (like me! I love hiding my journaling), you'll love these super fine pens.

Sakura Souffle Gel Ink Pen - Yellow - Pack of 2 (not shown in the photo above) I am constantly singing the praises of Sakura and their pens especially the Glaze and Souffle pens. YES, they are different. YES, you need them both. I go through certain colors (like the yellow souffle) like they're going out of style. I use them not only to journal but to color in, add embellishment doodles and more. I LOVE the Souffle and Glaze pens. They write on paper, dried acrylic paint and mediums, transparencies, tape, stickers, glass, rub-ons and MORE! Hands down, one of my all time favorite kinds of pens (souffle AND glaze.)

Uni-ball Jetstream Color Series Ballpoint Pen - 0.7 mm - Red Body - Red Ink-I am also a fan of the Uni-ball pens. This is a finer tip than what I usually use from Uni-ball (I usually use the Uni-ball Signo Broad UM 153, which I LOVE) but I liked how smooth and RED this pen was. It also seems to be a good pen to color with. I'd love to play with more of these in different colors and tip sizes!

Monami Super Gel-Q Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Red-Another fine tip pen. I couldn't resist the color. It's more of a pinky red than a red red. The tip won't be for everyone (very fine) but I love the color and it writes well so it will go in my journal bag! I hope that it becomes available in other more broader tip sizes as well.

Pentel Tradio Stylo Fountain Pen-Black Body-Black Ink- This pen is more like a felt tipped marker than a fountain pen but who cares what they call it when it writes like this?! It's butter in my hands and the ink just flows from the pen. I love the thickness of the line (not too thick, not too thin, Goldilocks just right, or should I say, write?!) I hope that they come out with more of these in a variety of colors (other than just what they have here.) I love that they're refillable, too!

Thanks again, JetPens, for another fun play day with new toys! I'll have my August review up as soon as my order comes in (which should be any minute now as JetPens always ships ULTRA fast!)

**Disclaimer: As I stated above, JetPens has been sending me $25 in gift certificates once a month for the past few months. My reviews are honest (I'm a pen freak, what can I say?!) and I will say what I really feel about the pens. If I don't like a pen or a product, I WILL tell you. I tend to order what interests me and sounds good for what I do most (art journaling.) Several times I have gone over the $25 that JetPens sent and used my own money to order some new toys! I have been a JetPens customer for years and would highly recommend them with or without them sending me a gift certificate or anything else. They are a small Mom and Pop company owned by a small group of college friends. I am NOT paid nor do I work for ANY company. I work for my students and for ME. All of the pens and products that I mention, unless I say that X sent them to me, I BUY them with my own money. I have to LOVE something in order to recommend it. **

Kelly, just want to share that I am a H U G E fan of your pen insights and reviews. Time and time again I've come to your blog to research pens and I've referred others to visit as well. I've come to trust and respect your recommendations as they are spot on for me. And honestly having someone like you out there, working the pens and putting them through your rigorous paces saves me a lot of time and frustrations cuz nothing gets my dander up, than a pen that won't write, clogs easily and or dies before I've ever used it. I've been able to stream line my pen and marker selections and stick with those I find tried and true time and time again based on information that you've shared here. So THANKS for being an awesome pen detective and sleuth. Glad you on are it!!!!

I have a question about the Super Gel-Q pen; does it write on slick surfaces?? I really like the color range in that pen model, and am just wondering about the surfaces it will write on. And I heartily agree with Susie, especially this part: "nothing gets my dander up, than a pen that won't write, clogs easily and or dies before I've ever used it" so I, too, appreciate your honest reviews of pens (and other products).

I have finally started a 'wish list' at Jet Pens, and will be placing an order there sometime soon... I think my own personal pen obsession is going full-steam ahead, lol!

Thank you, Susie and Jennifer!

Jennifer,

It does BUT it can easily be smeared if you don't wait for it to dry. It stays after several minutes on washi tape but if I wipe it with my fingers, the letters are still clear but the color smears/smudges but the letters I wrote stayed put. I waited longer and wad able to wipe off the smear part. Lol. Weird!

I wouldn't write on deco tape or transparencies with it.

Does that help/make sense?

Kelly
