What I've been reading since last Wednesday night...In every spare ounce of time, staying up until 1:30 in the morning...practically devouring all 500 pages. I LOVE THIS BOOK. Ya need it now. Keith Knight's The Complete K Chronicles. Check out more of his work and his website here. Two big thumbs up for something that makes you laugh and think. (FYI, those of you in L.A. Keith is doing a workshop for kids on the 20th at the UCLA Hammer Museum. Find out more info here.)

Being David's birthday week and all, we decided to trek to some of our favorite used bookstores yesterday. First stop was Brand Bookstore in Glendale, then across the street to Mystery and Imagination (they're having a great sale until this Friday, BTW!!) and finally, The Iliad in North Hollywood where I found the following:

The Family of Children-collage anyone??

Happy. Kitty. Bunny. Pony. Sweet. Ultra sweet saccharine for yours truly. Sadly, no sign of Fluffy Humpy Poopy Puppy or Goth-icky. *sigh*
Score! I've had my eye open at the used bookstore for Shep's book, In God We Trust All Others Pay Cash for ages now (yes, you do know Jean Shepherd even if you say you don't. If you ever watched A Christmas Story (and since TBS runs it for 24 hours every Christmas, I'm not sure how you could ever get away with saying you haven't seen it...unless you live under a rock...), you know Jean Shepherd.

Simply because one never knows....Max Brooks' infamous Zombie Survival Guide. I am still on the hunt, I mean look out, for World War Z. I will be stalking, I mean attending at least one of his panels at Comic Con this year. C'mon, when you're parents are Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft, you know the offspring is just as talented.

Don't forget I have THREE workshops lined up for this weekend. I will be in Ojai on Friday & Saturday at Artful Living. On Sunday, I will be at the Art Bar. You can find out more information here. If you are interested, please sign up asap!!! Thanks!

Oh, and just because I guess I should piss someone off today...two well written articles here (thank you Mr. Blum) and here.

I hope they have the a/c working when you have your workshop at the Art Bar.
I was there last weekend and it was freakin' HOT.
Bring a fan if they do not have the air on.

Well my grand plans of saving money and demo-ing the kitchen myself... that went out the window.
I tried and I now surrender my hammer.

Now I gotta cash in the change jar so I can sneak out to the rubber stamp convention this weekend... I know it's wrong to spend money on that when we now have to pay for the kitchen to get gutted but I mentally NEED some rubber.

Besides.. don't I deserve some rubber stamps after hammering out oh say... 35 tiles on the kitchen counter top?
:)
Well, Kelly, my family will disown me, but I agree with Mr. Blum. Glad the link was there for me to read.

I'll be in Glendale (where I was born and raised) July 15, 16, 17 and 18th. Will have to check out those book stores. Know exactly where they are. I have the Alex Theater in the backdrop of a Claudine Hellmuth type collage of my father's family coming to Glendale from Chicago.

While I am in Glendale I am taking one of the many books I have made in your classes to try and do some art. Wish me luck. Will be swinging by Zinnia's (a favorite!) for sure.

Miss being in your classes.

If you need World War Z I would be happy to give you my loaner copy. I think everyone around here had their chance at it.
