Remember the drive-in?

Well, last night for the "third time as a family" we trekked on out to the drive in theatre (thanks to the rental car. OUR car doesn't have a radio, not that it's driveable at the moment anyways...). City of Industry has the Vineland drive in. A mere half hour trek from our home, we made it there well before dusk to secure a spot that wouldn't be obscured by a humongous SUV parked backwards with the damn top up (those were all around us, but luckily I snagged a spot where the cars in front of me were normal size). The name of this post was going to be "A certain family member has no taste in movies" but I decided to forgo that post in case my sister and my brother in law read this. *ahem*

We *thought* (before I found the socaldims.com/ website printed on our receipt) that the double bill would be Ratatouille and Transformers. Nope. It was Transformers and Oceans 13. Tristan really wanted to see Transformers and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, that was his dream double bill. Needless to say, we saw Transformers. I can't remember the last time I sat through (AND PAID FOR) a movie that was THAT bad. Oh God. The people next to us rolled up their windows 'cause I think they were tired of hearing MY opinion of the piece of crap. Even my husband who never talks during films kept commenting too. They should rename the film "Ultra ridiculously expensive US Military ad with lots of really bad looking robots but cool looking cars" Whoever wrote this needs to go back to film school. Michael Bay should retire. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. It was like John Hughes meets James Cameron and total utter crap. Oh yeah, and we left right after Transformers 'cause I commented to the husband that I did not want to sit through TWO bad movies in a row.

LOL Can you tell none of us liked the film? (Even Tristan kept turning around and watching the films around us instead.)

Yet I do love the drive in experience (minus the big SUVs) and I'm looking forward to seeing a GOOD movie at the next one we go to. Damn, we should've seen Ratatouille and Pirates...

Comments

Ratatouille was FABUlous... we went to see it on Saturday and we all loved it. :) We drove to Meltdown yesterday afternoon and I spent way too much money... *sigh* We then had a late lunch-early dinner at Le Clafoutis. Mmmmm :)

Hugs,
Adriane

I have to admit the thought of a John Hughes + James Cameron combination made me swoon; imagine if it had been Samantha and Jake on the Titanic!

There's a new drive-in at the O.C. Fairgrounds. The last movie I saw at a drive-in was Blue Thunder.

Thanks for mentioning our drive-in society, SoCalDIMS. We are having a tailgate party at the Mission Tiki drive-in Saturday September 8th. You should come.
