The booty of the night:

Lula Magazine and two milk chocolate graham crackers at Borders in Hollywood

Argh, matey, this is what we found tonight at Soap Plant/Wacko (I love this damn store. I could spend HOURS in it...HOURS) in Los Angeles:

The eagerly awaited book by Brandon Boyd (I have no idea who he is but I LOVE this book and have been waiting for MONTHS for it to come out. I wish I had nabbed the first one when I saw it-but I was broke. This is Vol. 2). I LOVE Murphy Design and will buy pretty much anything that they release. They are, in my opinion, one of *the* best publishers around.

Another find is 4 words by 4 of the artists of Convergence. I bought Convergence the day it came out. I went nuts when I saw it!!! I absolutely LOVE the art in both books. 4 words is different from Convergence..I was convinced enough to plunk down $30 something for it. Shit, I hope the husband isn't reading this...(Love ya, honey! *mwah*)

Then the last book purchase I found was a treasure of a little gem-and I mean LITTLE. It's a little Japanese book on fabrics. Oh wow. Oh wow. I couldn't put the damn thing down. That store is too freakin' dangerous.

I did save myself $12. I wanted a Mr. Rogers keychain that talked to you but the husband talked me out of it...and it was really loud. Between that and the Mr. T keychain, I was set...but I saved the $ for a book instead! LOL!

I also bought FIVE rolls of teeny tiny skull tape. It was a $1.50 a roll and to frickin' cute to leave there. Tristan walked out out with a talking "Bloo" toy from Foster's home for Imaginary Friends. It's too cute and reminds me of Tristan-it "laughs" when you tickle him...and it says several things including "I'm bored..." if you wait and press it again it says "I'm still bored." Tristan kept playing it in the bookstore. Yup. That sums up our book treks with Tristan-from *his* end.

I'm off to get ready as I am teaching a brand spankin' new class, Your Journal As Art, tomorrow at Violets Rubber Stamp Inn in Ventura (805 648 7610). I can't wait!!!! I keep ya busy but having fun in that one ;) (ok, I hopefully keep ya busy and havin' fun in all of them but this is a new one I can't wait to debut!!!)

Hi Kelly:
This is a bit off topic....I vaguely remember that you
announced an upcoming opportunity to exchange
ephemera by way of a mail swap. Is this swap still available. If so, what are the requirements?
Thanks,
Muki

Lula Magazine looks trippy - thanks for turning us on to it! Gonna see if it's at any bookstores here in the O.C. ... or if Lula will be another reason why I should move to L.A. :)
