Upcoming Fall Workshops in San Diego 2016
I am very happy to announce that I will be returning to teach on a monthly basis (October through December) in the Normal Heights Neighborhood of San Diego at a private studio (classes are open to the public for this workshop. Details will be sent upon registration.)
Workshops are from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Saturday, December 17th Brushstrokes: Playful, Paint Applications On Journal Pages
My workshops aim to teach a variety of NEW ideas involving collage, creative processing, self expression, composition, design, layering, painting and much, much more.
My workshops are always process-based learning while creating a unique product. I am well known for not traveling light and bring a large variety of supplies including (but not limited to) collage material, rubber stamps, stencils, pens, markers, tape and more. Please note there is a small supply list.
Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.
Interested in signing up? Questions? Please email Kelly for more info! EGorey99@sbcglobal.net
Payments for the San Diego workshop must be made in advance. Due to the fact that the teacher is traveling from Los Angeles and must prep for the workshops in advance, there are no cancellations allowed. No refunds.
You may send someone else in your place if you are unable to attend the workshop, or you will receive a kit for the class. You can either pay via paypal (see button below) or send a check or money order. Once you've signed up for the workshop, you will be sent the address and directions to the workshop location. If you have ANY questions you can email me. I will also give you my cell phone number so you contact me.
The class fee includes a vast array of mediums and materials to complete the necessary project. It is well known that I do not travel light to any of my classes. I will be bringing such things are:
- all materials necessary to complete the project (handmade paper, decorative paper, board, glue, etc...)
- bookbinding supplies (thread, awl, needles)
- rubber stamps
- ink pads
- decorative tape
- stencils
- pens and markers
- gel medium

Brushstrokes: Playful, Paint Applications On Journal Pages
Let's get messy! Explore, experiment and play with paint in this colorful and fun workshop. We'll start by collaging our pages and then it's time to pull out the paint! You will learn everything I know about acrylics, mediums as well as a plethora of ways to apply acrylics to our journal pages (or canvas, walls, etc...) Explore color, texture and depth as you create original and luscious pages.
You will also love making your own unique sampler to remember all of these techniques later on.
Supply list: a journal, an apron, scissors, a small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), bone folder, cork back metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, permanent black ink pad (if you have one), a container for your paint water, 1 to 2" brush to glue and paint (I like chip or bristle brushes) as well as a few, smaller, detailed brushes, a few of your favorite glue sticks (large glue sticks will last you longer), roll of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)
Previous Classes in October and November:

Tell Your Story: Visual Journal Pages as Narrative

Tell Your Story: Visual Journal Pages as Narrative
Where
do we start when we put pen to paper? How do we translate what is in
our heads to our visual art journal pages? How do we combine the visual
with the written word?
Learn
to combine paper, paint and pen to create visually expressive and
unique journal pages. In this class, you will learn a plethora of
layering techniques using not only your pens and markers but also paint,
paper and more. Think that you know there is to putting your heart onto
paper? Think again. I first developed this class to challenge myself
and now I'm challenging you. Bring your journal and the supplies listed
below (I will have plenty of art supplies to share as I don't travel
light) and be prepared to spill out onto the page.

Inner Voice: A Conversation in Art Journaling
Why limit our journal pages to one or even two page spreads? Let's burst out of our creative comfort zones as we dive deep onto our pages. Let's work large, creating a series of out of your box journal pages. You will combine layers of paper, paint and more to form your own artistic voice on the page. Learn how to push, pull and coax ideas on the page. Learn how to express yourself with layers of paper, paint, pens, stencils and much, much more. You will have a conversation in color, pattern, shape, design, text, texture and more using mixed mixed techniques on the pages of your new journal.
