The Pages Within

Our journal pages tell our stories by combining luscious, rich layers of paper and ink with moments of our own unique experiences. In this four hour workshop, you will construct a hard bound journal from scratch. After we make the journal, you will then spend the rest of the class learning all new composition, design and self expression through art journaling techniques. You will walk out of class with a brand new journal, several pages completed and your head full of new ideas and possibility!

Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels OR an old rag, permanent black inkpad,  1" brush to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite glue sticks, an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

The Painted Book: An Exploration in Layers

By popular demand, I'm teaching a brand new mixed media class. Roll up your sleeves, don your aprons and prepare to get messy! We'll explore a variety of mediums including watercolor, gouache, and much, much more. Create richly painted pages which you will assemble into a canvas covered book. Learn new ways of exploring color and layering in this unique four hour workshop.

Supply list: Apron, tacky glue, scissors, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels OR an old rag, permanent black inkpad, and 1 to 2" brush to paint and glue (I like chip or bristle brushes).

Composing A Life: A Journal Box

This class has been brewing in my head for several years now and I can't wait to share it with you! In this eight hour workshop, you will learn skills in box making, book making, collage, assemblage, art journaling, self expression, composition, design, and much, much more.

We will begin by creating a book box covered in papers that are chosen by you (and provided by me.) Next up is creating a variety of books that fit into the box. Learn a variety of simple but fun construction and bookbinding techniques.

After the work is done, we will switch gears and begin to fill our pages. You will learn a plethora of mixed media techniques including but not limited to collage, color, composition, design, pen work, layering and much, much more. I strive to make each of the techniques that I present in my classes different than other classes and you will love what you create in this workshop!

You will walk out of class with a finished box, all of your books assembled, several pages richly layered in your own unique style learning the techniques and ideas demonstrated in the workshop. You will love what you create and all of the new possibilities that will be presented and shared in class.

Cultivating You: A Journal Process

Get ready to dive into this class by creating a truly unique book form using a variety of handmade and decorative papers selected by you (and provided by me.) A variety of new techniques will be demonstrated, discussed and built upon during the workshop. Walk out with several pages started and full of new ideas that will keep you working on this journal days later!

I hope to see YOU there!
