Classes in Los Angeles at the BookArtsLA Center!

I am very excited to announce that I will be teaching at the Book Arts Los Angeles Center (at the location where Stampin From the Heart used to be.) I taught in the new space last month and it is gorgeous. There is plenty of space to work and an amazing amount of light in the studio. PLUS lots of FREE parking in the back. I am very happy to be teaching there.

Sunday, September  28th   Journey Into the Self

In this four hour journey, you will create a bound book with pages attached that fold up, out and down. You will then dive in and learn new techniques for collage, art journaling, mixed media and self expression. Explore painting with paper; layering your letters and images; color secrets and much, much more. I guarantee that you will love working in this journal as much as I did!

Supply list: scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels OR an old rag, permanent black inkpad,  1" brush to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite glue sticks, an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

Sunday, October 19th Painting with Paper: Advanced Collage for Everyone

This is a class that I have been wanting to teach for some time now. I've developed a class that's fit for beginner to advanced students who are eager to push the envelope with their collage work.
You will spend the class time focusing on creating an expressive series of collaged pages that are full of rich layers. Learn how to step back and push your pages to a deeper level. There is something for everyone in this class.
We will be learning new collage techniques while focusing on painting with paper, layering with pens/markers, tape, stencils, rubber stamps, text and much, much more. Learn new and unique tips, tricks and techniques for collage work that can be applied to a wide variety of art forms.
Supply list: Journal to work on (or I will have paper for you to use), scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of paper towels OR an old rag, permanent black inkpad,  1" brush to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes) OR a few of your favorite glue sticks, an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

Sunday, November 2nd Deep Within: Journal Bundles

Rarely do we think of art making as a gift to ourselves. In this special four hour workshop, we will transform old books, found ephemera, and much, much more into our own precious journal bundles. Revamp and revitalize materials to create your own self expressive pieces of art.

Supply list: a small selection of favorite ribbon (you will need one piece at least 3' long) or string pieces, scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels OR an old rag, permanent black inkpad,  1" brush to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite glue sticks, an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)
Please bring an x-acto knife and cutting mat ONLY if you have one.

Sunday, December 14th Moments of Me

Spend four hours creating a uniquely constructed journal made entirely by your own hands. After we make the journal, we will spend the rest of the class learning a myriad of new ideas for self expression and creativity upon its pages. Learn new ideas for art journaling, collage, composition, design and much, much more. I absolutely loved working in this journal and I guarantee that you will, too!

I hope to see you there!
