What You'll Find Here

I post daily (photos of my journal pages, things that inspire me and personal bits and pieces) to inspire and encourage others. I have always believed that if I can do it, so can you.

You'll find resources (my favorite supplies, books, slideshows of my art journal pages, favorite bloggers, etc...) listed along the right hand side of my blog.

I've been teaching both in person and online workshops for almost twenty years now. You can find out more about my classes by scrolling down along the right hand side of my blog. I strive to make classes accessible to everyone (both beginner to advanced).

I love teaching and truly believe that deep down inside everyone is an artist, capable of creating something. There is power and knowledge in the act of creating something with your own hands, made from your own heart and head.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at EGorey99@sbcglobal.net

your work seems so bohemian-ish, ? how do manage to come up with so many ideas?

I play and experiment. I ask "what if?". I LOVE working in my journal. I LOVE trying new things.

Some tips for coming up with new ideas:

1. I rotate my supplies (including my collage supplies) so that they seem fresh and not the same ol' thing.

2. I vary the size of each journal I create. It helps to push me outside of my comfort zone.

3. I don't compare my work. I also don't beat myself up over pages that I don't love. If I'm not happy, I'll push the page some more. If I've done all I can, I'll turn the page and move on.

4. I work and play every day.

5. I keep my eyes open. I am always looking for new colors, patterns, shapes, etc.. in my daily life. I will pull colors from posters on the street, lines from a funny squiggle on the wall, etc... It's all about how you see things and keeping your eyes open.

I hope this helps!!
