Art Journaling on Skid Row looking for supplies!

“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.” - William Wordsworth

"Art Journaling can be such a wonderful outlet for the breathings of our heart. It is a powerful way to express thoughts and emotions regarding the world around us. With this in mind, two social workers in Los Angeles’ downtown Skid Row district recently began an Art Journaling Class for formerly homeless men and women in Skid Row. The group is open to residents of the Abbey and Rainbow Apartments, which are two of the twenty-four buildings owned and operated by Skid Row Housing Trust (www.skidrow.org). Each Thursday at 11:00 am the group gathers to paint, cut, draw and paste as a community of people dedicated to recovery, wellness, and hope.

The Art Journaling Class is always searching for new or gently used supplies for their use – so if you have some additional supplies you would like to donate, please contact Rachel McCrickard at rmccrickard@skidrow.org. All donations are tax-deductible, so just ask if you would like a receipt for your donation. They would also love to have “guest artists” who might be willing to donate their time once in a while in order to teach the class a new technique. This is a fantastic way to give back to the community through your love of all things art!"

That is a great idea. I hope it either/both helps someone or gives them an affordable hobby.
