Just Added: March 16th and 17th Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps in Santa Fe

Sunday, March 17th
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Inner Dialogue: the Art of Visual Expression
These fresh, new workshops teach a variety of NEW ideas involving collage, creative processing, self expression, composition, design, layering, painting and much, much more.

My workshops are always about inspiring creativity, generating ideas and learning how to see. The ideas can be translated into a variety of art forms. Use your art journal "as is" or for a springboard of inspiration for other art forms and living a creative life!
Please note there is a small supply list. (For long time regulars, please make sure to read the updated supply list below each class description.)

Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.

The class fee includes a vast array of mediums and materials to complete the necessary project. It is well known that I do not travel light to any of my classes. I will be bringing such things are:
  • all materials necessary to complete the project (handmade paper, decorative paper, board, glue, etc...)
  • bookbinding supplies (thread, awl, needles)
  • rubber stamps
  • ink pads
  • decorative tape
  • stencils
  • pens and markers
  • collage ephemera and much, much more.
I do not travel light to my classes at all.

Palette Pages: Exercises in Creative Play

For the past year, I’ve been handing out a piece of scrap paper in my workshops encouraging folks to use it as a palette. A lot of the time, I’ll see folks throw it away after the workshop ends. No more!

Bring your journal to class and we’ll be working back and forth between our palette pages and our journals. Create rich, luscious, expressive layers of color and texture. Discover how to be playful with mark making and layering. Build upon what you know as you create pages and pages of one of a kind expressive journal pages.

(Yes! There are collage exercises though the samples shown don’t have collage on them.)

Supply list: Your Journal, an apron, scissors, a small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), baby wipes, cork back metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, a container for your paint water, your favorite paint brushes, a water brush pen (OR an extra fine, detail paint brush *ONLY* IF you have one),  a few of your favorite LARGE glue sticks (please trust me when I say that large glue sticks will last you longer. I always have two or three 40 gram glue sticks in my journal bag and that's more than enough for a long weekend. You WILL go through the smaller glue sticks in MINUTES), roll of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

Followed by:

Beyond the Brush: Painting with Palette Knives and more

We all have our favorite tools. After all, what artist doesn’t love a good paintbrush? What about other art tools like palette knives, catalyst tools and even household items?

I’ve fallen head over heels painting with tools that aren’t brushes. After this workshop, you will, too!

Moving beyond the brush opens us up to new possibilities and discoveries in how we create layers on our pages. Learn how to create new colors on your rich, luscious, unique pages. Gain confidence in exploring new ideas and take the plunge into a world of color.  Learn that creative mistakes are only new possibilities. Bring your journal, some waxed paper and be ready to set off on a whole new adventure in creative painting.

Inner Dialogue: The Art of Visual Expression

Want to create magic on your journal pages?

For most artists, paper, paint, mark making and journaling represent doorways to new experiences and insights. Most artists that I know are always trying to discover and learn something new. We’re eager for new ideas, new techniques, anything that will get us in the studio and working.

I want to start a fire in you! I want journaling to be rich, magical, expressive and unlike any other form of creating that you can do. How do we do that? By working, brainstorming and taking risks.

In this day long workshop, we’ll create a one of a kind hardcover journal (with a hidden paper pocket) that will call to you whenever you are ready to reach for the scissors or paintbrush.

Discover new ideas and possibilities in art making that are already nestled deep within you. Expand, explore and experiment and bring your inner artist out and onto your pages.

Supply list:  an apron, scissors, a small selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images and papers), baby wipes, cork back metal ruler, a full roll of paper towels OR old rags, a container for your paint water, your favorite paint brushes, a water brush pen (OR an extra fine, detail paint brush *ONLY* IF you have one),  a few of your favorite LARGE glue sticks (please trust me when I say that large glue sticks will last you longer. You WILL go through the smaller glue sticks in MINUTES), roll of waxed paper OR an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this.)

I hope to see you there!
