Decisions, Decisions

I'm still not sold on an e-reader yet. I prefer holding a paper book (hardcover, if I can find and afford it) in my hands and gently turning the pages. I'm packing for my East Coast jaunt and am trying to decide which books to bring with me. My current contenders are:

Susan Sontag's Reborn: Journals and Notebooks 1947-1963

Hilma af Klint A Pioneer of Abstraction (one of my favorite books of the year!)

Frida Kahlo by Gannit Ankori (I picked this up at Vromans last night and couldn't put it down. I love the snippets from her own diaries and interviews that she pieced together to tell her story.)

Mary Oliver's Evidence

Italo Calvino's If on a Winter's Night a Traveler (borrowed from David's shelf.)

Francoise Heritier's The Sweetness of Life (another one that I picked up within the last few weeks at Vroman's and couldn't put down. It reminds me of a journal.)

I won't be bringing all of these (there are always books to find and buy while I am there! Hello, Cambridge MA used bookstores!) Between my journal bag (which I'm also downsizing for the trip), my books and my company, I should be all set.

I had to switch to my Ipad ereader a couple years ago because of space and because of pain. I still buy books that I love and want to keep to reread. It's an addiction and love. I have never flown in my entire life and never really thought about this predicament. Good luck. I think I would have to save for added charges on what to bring and what to leave. And to think if my luggage was lost! I'd be a nervous wreck. I guess once you've traveled by air and it's happened you just get used to it. I'm still working on hubby for our first flight. May have to get you to school me in the ins and outs of how to fly. lol
