My Struggle

One of my biggest struggles is how much I fight to be fully present in the moment.

With my work, I often have to plan and book my classes several months in advance. My family (I'm not talking about my husband) often talks about things that we have planned months down the line. Constantly.

I'm the opposite. I don't want to talk or plan for tomorrow. I truly want to live and experience what's happening right now in the moment. I want to slow down and relish what's going on around me. I want to focus and experience the NOW.

I think that's one of the things that I love most about working in an art journal and why I work page by page. Working the way I do forces you to slow down, think and be fully present in what you are doing. My mind quiets and I'm aware of what is right in front of me. My anxiety goes away and all I have is the now.

Another love letter blog post to my journal!

Mindfulness is one of the things I've been working on too... easier said than done.

I am guilty of being a big planner. I really do need to learn to focus on the now....
