A Good Mail Day

I love getting books in the mail. Who am I kidding? I love getting books in the store, at the library, from friends, etc... Wherever I get them. However I get them. It's all good.

I. Love. Books.

Kolaj magazine is a visual inspiration for those who love to cut and paste! I have all of them to date. I haven't read one cover to cover yet. Instead, I prefer to flip through and slowly savor. I'm weird like that sometimes.

Selina Lake is a designer whose work I adore. I'm not one for buying interior design books so I can use them for ideas to decorate my home. I like to glean inspiration from everything and good interior design books delight and inspire my work.

Daily Rituals: How Artists Work enticed and called to me. I love glimpses into artists' lives, studios and thoughts. I am more interested in why artists do what they do than the finished product. The act of creating, making and thinking intrigue and excite me. I watch when my students are creating and each one was given the same exercise or technique and yet they each walk away with something completely unique to them. After sixteen years of teaching, it still fascinates me. I'm looking forward to reading Daily Rituals in bits and pieces.

Yes, I'm still a paper book person (I prefer hardcovers as much as possible.) I don't own an e-reader (though I have the option to read books on my phone but I choose not to.) For me, there's something to be said about physically holding a book in my hands. I also spend enough time on the computer as it is that it's nice to not to have to stare at a screen to read. Call me crazy but, "I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam." (toots pipe and walks away.)

What are you reading lately?
