Adding Stamps to the Class Pile

Every now and then, I like to swap out my class stamps for "new" stamps. I used to be able to do it more often when we had more stamp stores in L.A. I really miss the variety of stores (not to mention places to teach!) I am very grateful for what we still have. My regular go to stores for stamps locally are:

Stampin from the Heart in L.A.

Zinnia in So Pasadena

Kinokuniya in Downtown L.A.

Paper Source (Beverly Hills, Santa Mónica and Pasadena)

I also frequent etsy when I can. I love finding unique stamps that aren't mass marketed.

I also have been known to carve my own stamps every now and then.

Out of state favorite stamp stores include:

Frenzy Stamper in Scottsdale, AZ (Debbie is like my sugar Mama when it comes to buying new stamps. If I want it and she likes it, yeah, baby! Her attitude has always been, "One for me, some for the store." She buys what she likes and her taste is amazing. I can't wait to trek there next weekend!)

Ink About It (Westford, MA is another favorite place. I will be teaching there in December. I always manage to pick up a few new favorites when I'm in town.)

Ink About It (NYC!! I went there for the first time this summer and got into serious trouble. They had some amazing stamps. I can't wait to go back!)

Other favorite venues include:

Scrapbook Territory in Berkeley, CA
Castle in the Air also in Berkeley, CA
Our Lady of Rubber/Guadalupe Stamps in Santa Fe, NM

Some of the companies that I love (as you'll see above) include:
Stampers Anonymous
Invoke Arts
Catslife Press
Judikins
100 Proof Press
Hero Arts

I miss the abundance of companies that we used to have to choose from. I'm grateful that some of my old favorites are still around.

Where do you get your stamps and what are your favorite companies?

Some of my favorite companies are:
Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz
Hero Arts
Stampotique (Daniel Torrente's images)
JudiKins
Memory Box

I buy my stamps either at my local stamp store (although she has less stamps now and more scrapbooking stuff) or at the Carson show. I don't buy like a used to. One of the local scrapbook stores down here has a nice selection of stamps too.

Thanks, Terri. I also don't buy what I used to but I do tend to go on sprees when I teach and travel (saving up $ to do so). It's harder to buy stamps though with less and less companies. I've also always been very picky with what I buy.
I tend to like text (alphabet and numbers), backgrounds (that I can use again and again), hands, hearts, eyes and Buddha type images (even though I'm not religious.) I LOVE alphabet and number sets.

Since the only places I can buy stamps locally are the big box craft stores, I get many stamps off Ebay. My favorites are Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz. I'll be checking out some of the other stamp companies you mentioned!! Thanks!!
Yummy stamps! I have the skull with wings but have always wanted the one with the raven on it's head (Ya, like that's a big shocker!) One of my fave companies is still Stamp-Francisco. I like their selection and getting them unmounted. It's been eons since I bought new stamps though!!!

I love alphabets and numbers too! I also like background images that are nothing but text.
Do you buy only mounted images? I still prefer wood mounted stamps, but I do have a lot of acrylic stamps too.

Artzy Diva, you like ravens?!?! ;) (hee hee) There are some good ones out there.

Terri, I love text everything. I prefer mounted but will buy 'em however I can.

Cat, welcome to the wonderful world of stamp accumulation, I mean stamping!!!! ;)

I love the 2 skulls and the circle with the numbers on it. The last stamps I bought were from the Etsy shop you recommended on your blog. I have so many that I either need to get rid of the ones I don't use so I can buy more that I will use or not buy anymore. I think I like the idea of getting rid of some. ;)

I mostly buy Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi stamps from Stampers Anonymous and then I just bought a text set sheet from Traci Bunkers at Journal Fest. I still need to cut up the rubber sheet though and get them ready to use. I have to admit to using my stamps not so much these days. Not sure if I am just lazy or bored.
Aloha, Kate

I do miss our once-booming stamp store community in Southern California, especially the LA area. I like to carve stamps and have always been partial to images which I can color with pencils. The designs that appeal to me these days are labels, like old-fashioned shapes and sizes (the old red-bordered kind) and journal-entry backgrounds, with lines or grids. And always, forever, alphabets. Your etsy link was eye-opening, so many custom stamps, but do we need so many for weddings? Just wondering. xo
I LOVE text and numbers too. There are some really great font sets out there. Hmmm hands, hearts, eyes and buddha type images? Sounds like my collage stash!!! Nope. I don't like ravens one bit.... Adore, gaga over, obsessed..... Ya those words fit. LOL I need to go stamp shopping now. I definitely could use more skeletons, skulls and ravens....

Thanks, Kelly---just put an order in with Invoke and plan on doing the same with Catslife. Have you seen Unity Stamp Co--I'm going to try to sign up for their SMAK kit of the month. Nov has some pretty neat stamps as far as I am concerned. Got my BFF hooked up already with them and passed her the link to Catslife. Will do the same for Invoke. I've slowly been buying stamps since 1997 (and I mean slowly!!) I love the ones that you just got. I love the ones for backgrounds, phrases like "dream", "create", "imspire" and alphabet stamps. My handwriting is so bad that I never write anything too long that I can't type out, stamp or Dymo!! I really love your blog--you are always sharing new information--you must be an awesome teacher in person.

These are all great! Thanks, everyone!

Cat, I do have a couple of the Unity stamps.
I used to think the same thing about my handwriting but I kept at it. It's funny to see how my writing has changed over the years. The one thing about using your own hand in a journal is that it's done by YOU and no one else can replicate YOUR personal touch and mark in a journal. :) My two cents!
Cat-- She IS an awesome teacher in person!!! Definitely take a class, or twenty, with Kelly if at all possible!!! You will have a great time and go away feeling inspired and confident.
Ooo, Catslife! I sort of forgot about them! will have to visit their site again soon. A GREAT site for font lovers is Ma Vinci's Reliquary.simply awesome! http://mavinci.net/
