Some "before" journal pages

I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at some "before" journal pages. I created some of these in classes as sample pages for prompts/techniques that I was demoing.

I like to play with my art supplies. I tend to work fast, picking out papers by colors and textures that I enjoy together. I think of it like getting dressed, "does this look good together?" I like working with different colors to make the page pop! I don't stress, nor do I spend a lot of time on a page. I don't over think it, nor do I worry about it. If I don't like it, I finish the page and then turn it. I let it go. There are more pages to work on in the book. A page being 'good or bad' isn't the important thing. It's the process and the experience that should be priority. I'll show you the finished pages soon.

Blog Love:

The new Spoonful #2 is available and you can buy a subscription, too!
Journal page love
Help make Kara's dream a reality!
I love this idea! Recycle plastic. Wash it, let it dry. Draw on it and then stick it in your journal!

Stuff I want to try cooking:
Home Fries (using sea salt instead)
Honey Graham Crackers
Chocolate peanut butter cupcakes

Loved this article on Al "Grandpa Munster" Lewis.
I've heard this interview several times with him and it's well worth listening to.

Tristan's been a busy bee making his own Lego short films. Yes, he did it all with no help from me or his Dad. It's stop motion animation. He's having fun with it. You can see the videos here.

Finally, I have not one but three workshops in June. Two are this coming weekend at Zinnia and the Art Bar. Info on my June workshops is here. I hope to see you there!

I love all the pages you've shown. They look great.

Thanks for sharing the links, I love looking at everything you share, I learn a lot and follow a lot of the blogs you share here.

I love Tristan's work, he did a great job. I shared it with Shelby because Shelby loves animation and legos too. He's away this week but I'm sure he'll love it when he sees it. Tristan is really talented. I see the apple doesn't fall too far. :)

What size is this journal, Kelly? It looks big. I really like seeing the full process from background through embellisment and then writing. Thanks for being so open with us about your process and ideas.

Stephen's bugging me to go now (to buy flowers for our garden), but I am signing up for your totally awesome class when I get back!!
