Another September 2, 2009 journal page

David and I watched a film the other night. One that I had ordered over the 'net for his birthday and it took almost FIVE months for it to arrive. I ordered two DVDs for his birthday, ordering in early May for David's July birthday. Well, the first DVD took over a month to arrive. From there on, it was a game. We didn't receive a copy of the supposed second DVD until mid June. They finally sent us a DVD, but it didn't have the whole film on it, only about ten minutes of it and the name of the film on the cover. Then they sent another DVD with the WRONG film on it completely, not the Tashlin DVD we had ordered, yet it had the same cover AGAIN. Their email communication was HORRIBLE. Long story short, we finally received the film about a week or so ago. I was in shock. I never expected it to arrive. Was it well worth the wait?

Yes.

Is it a film that's hard to see?

YES.

It's one of those films where if you get a chance to see it, jump on it. BUT whatever you do, do not order from the company where we purchased the DVD from...or else you will be waiting a very, very long time for it.

What was the film? The First Time, 1952, directed by Frank Tashlin.

Speaking of damn good films not available on DVD, if you have cable you *need* to tune into TCM this Sunday, September 20th.

A Thousand Clowns

Set the TIVO folks, if you're not going to be home. It's worth it. Trust me. One of my favorites and one that I'm hoping they put on DVD soon. I need a copy of it.

absolutely Beautiful page Kelly!
The airmail stripes around the edges, the image, the butterfly stamp...just all of it.
